Friday 30th November – Sunday 16th December

Cirencester, ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’ has been famous for its markets since Roman times: it hosts the famous twice weekly Charter Market, a Farmers’ Market every Saturday and regular indoor antique and crafts markets in the Corn Hall. The town itself has a wonderfully diverse mix of shops, combining quality independent retailers with some of the best high street names, with something for all tastes and budgets.
From 30th November to 16th December 2012, the heart of Cirencester will be transformed by our Christmas Market and Skating Rink. The market will run daily from 10am – 6pm and the skating rink will run daily from midday – 8pm. The skating rink will be set in the Abbey Grounds, set beneath the stunning backdrop of the Parish Church. Tickets go on sale starting Friday 30th November.
Beautifully adorned wooden chalets, each decorated with festive swags and white pea lights will be the backdrop for showcasing local artisans from the area, between them selling an enticing range of clothing, accessories, gifts and toys, together with festive food and drink.
A programme of activities is currently planned, which will centre on the Christmas market, but spill out across the town. Some highlights will include the switching on of the lights, the return of the popular and hugely well supported lantern procession, as well as live music and street performances.
